Health Law Section Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the Health Law Section is being held at the Hilton New York in New York City on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. The MCLE program will be an all-day session from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

The program begins at 8 am with a Health Law Annual Update. This is a new offering from the Section and is presented by Steve Chananie and Stacey Gulick from Garfunkel, Wild & Travis, P.C.

The focus of this year's program is "Health Care Reform: Now What?." It begins at 9 am with Keynote Speaker, Dr. Steven M. Sayfer, President and CEO of Montefiore Medical Center, speaking on Health Reform: A View From the Bronx. The morning portion will also include an Overview of Federal Health Reform and a panel presentation on the Impact of Health Care Reform on Insurers in New York. There will be a ticketed luncheon at 12:30 p.m. featuring speakers from the New York State Department of Health and the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General. The afternoon program includes panel presentations on the Impact of Health Reform on Providers, Consumer Access to Coverage and Care After Reform, and Health Reform: Selected Legal Issues.

Under New York's MCLE rule, this program has been approved for a total of 7.0 credit hours in practice management or areas of professional practice. This program will NOT qualify for credit for newly-admitted attorneys because it is not a basic practical skills program.
