Seeking In-House Compliance Officer


Bliss Lawyers is seeking a Compliance Officer to work in-house at a financial services firm located in New York City. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of asset management experience previously in a compliance or audit role. The position is temporary and will last three months with potential additional extensions. Both lawyers and non-lawyer compliance professionals will be considered for this position.

Job responsibilities include:
Oversee and manage compliance issues within an organization;
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as with internal policies and procedures;
Perform Compliance Testing to ensure controls are effective;
Review investment management agreeents for new asset management clients;
Ensure guidelines are correctly coded; and,
Monitor fund and client guidelines pre- and post-trade.

Seeking NYC General Counsel


Bliss Lawyers is delighted to announce a permanent position for a General Counsel to work for a New York-based multimedia provider of business, investment and ratings content. The General Counsel will handle a wide range of business-related legal matters including SEC reporting, compliance, corporate governance, customer and vendor transactions and labor contract review. The pay is competitive, with benefits. The ideal candidate will have both financial services and media experience. Interviews will begin as soon as appropriate candidates are identified.

Responsibilities include:
* Work with outside counsel on compliance function (annual review, SOX Compliance, investment policy, code of ethics, etc.);
* Act as Secretary to the Corporation;
* Maintain Board of Directors minute books;
* Maintain business and legal records;
* Perform and manage contract administration;
* Manage corporate governance and record keeping related to subsidiary entities including corporations and LLCs;
* Work with outside counsel in formulating and implementing policy and ensuring compliance with regulations with respect to a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, investment advisory, intellectual property, and privacy and information security;
* Work with outside counsel in drafting and reviewing periodic public company filings under the '34 Act;
* Ensure company compliance with publishing and securities laws and company policies, which includes periodic review of advertising and marketing copy and review of personal trading records;
* Work with outside counsel in maintenance of the company's intellectual property portfolio, including securing and enforcing copyright and trademark rights;
* Draft cease and desist letters regarding copyright infringement; and,
* Review and maintain a variety of customer commercial transactions including: license agreements, headline indexing agreements, co-branding agreements, revenue sharing agreements, content distribution agreements, NDAs, vendor agreements etc.

Intellectual Property Law Fellowship



SUMMER 2013 FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY--APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED AND ELIGIBILITY EXPANDED

The deadline for applying for The 2013 Miriam Maccoby Netter Fellowship, created and funded by the Intellectual Property Law Section and administered by the New York Bar Foundation, has been extended to May 13, 2013. Eligibility for the fellowship has also just been expanded to attorneys who have received their J.D. within the past three years as well as current law students (previously the fellowship was only available for current students).

One grant, valued at $5,000, will be awarded to a public interest intellectual property organization or charity, who will offer the fellowship to a student enrolled in a law school located in New York State during the 2013 Spring semester, or to a person who received their JD any time within the last three years. The fellowship will take place in Summer 2013. The fellow will assist the organization with matters relating to intellectual property law.


If you are interested in participating in such a fellowship this summer, please contact an IP organization or charity of interest to you and let them know of the availability of this grant. Please note that the organization/charity itself must apply for the grant directly, and law students or young lawyers may not do so on organization/charity's behalf.

Seeking CT In-House Products Liability Litigator

The position is full-time and will last about two years, beginning as soon as possible. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of products liability experience.
